Information About Water Treatment in Yuma, Somerton, and Wellton
3-Types of Water Systems
1. Filter Systems: These systems do not make soft water.
Ag Plus:
Sediment media, suspended solids
Carbon:
Removes chlorine & taste and odors.
Catalox:
Iron, hydrogen-sulfide (rotten egg smell)
Filtersorb with Carbon:
Anti-Scale, chlorine & taste and odor
KDF:
Removes chlorine and inhibits bacteria growth
2. Water Softener, Water Conditioner, Water Refiner, ect;
These units soften the water by removing the hardness minerals-calcium and/or magnesium. For each ion of calcium or magnesium removed, one is replaced with an ion of potassium or sodium.
3. Reverse Osmosis:
Removes 90-95% of the ions in the water (municipal water) and produces water like drinking water from bottled water trucks. Replaces those heavy 5 gallon water bottles.
Did You Know?
Less than 1% of the water treated by public water systems is used for drinking and cooking.
The City of Yuma’s water is considered to be “hard,” with hardness between 18 and 22 grains per gallon.
Only 1/8” buildup of hardness scale inside a water heater requires one-third more fuel to bring the water to the desired temperature!
